happy new year.

hi dolls!

the year is coming to an end and I couldn't be more excited. 2011 is guaranteed to bring new {happy moments} and lots of exciting happenings. as for ringing in the new year, I think this pretty much sums up my night:

tonight I'm off to the bay to spend some more time with my girls Jaclyn and Danielle. I'm so thrilled I get to spend a little extra time with them before the year ends [thanks to my daddy for giving me a 'come into work a little late' pass!] and on Sunday I'll be attending the last 49er game of the season {not like I'll be watching the game much.... if you've kept up with football in the least bit you'll know that we suck aren't doing so well. {at all}.

do you have anything exciting planned for new years?

bring in the new year safely, dolls. I look forward to seeing you all next year :)

mama's words of wisdom.

hello loves! how's everyone doing today? I'm feeling considerably better after my morning freak out session, seeing as I had a wonderful evening with two of my best friends and I'm getting things done [one box at a time]. I'm starting to accept the situation and coming to terms with the fact that not everything is going to happen at once, that things take time, and that {everything will be ok}.

my mom gave me a few words of advice yesterday whilst in the middle of my freak out. this is not the first time {and I'm positive it will not be the last} she says these words to me: "worry less, pray more."

love my mom.

story time.

hello loves! today, I'm going to tell you a short story. don't worry, it's mostly pictures [my brain can't handle words at the moment.]

{no explanation needed.} ~ unless you count my unorganized house, unpacked boxes, and two of my favorite people coming to dinner in less than 12 hours and I'm soooooo not prepared. so, I guess that's a decent explanation.

din din. nom nom nom.

*beverage*

hopefully leading to dance party with two of my bests.

here's to a good day.

haunted.

hello loves! how was everyone's holiday?

last night was the first night in my new house. when I finally crawled into bed and shut off the light, I snuggled into my new sheets, big, fluffy down blanket, and cozy pillows. all was well in casa de beautiful.dirty.rich. until I heard a crash.

first night in and I already have a {freakin' ghost}

I spent the rest of the night under my covers, sealed in like an eskimo in an igloo.

turns out it was the utility cover on the fireplace falling onto the tile mantle. I secured it tightly so hopefully it won't happen again tonight [because if it does then I really do have a ghost and I'll totally freak out]. x fingers crossed x

also on the agenda tonight, I'm headed to the Container Store so I can sleep peacefully {did I not mention that my house is a disorganized disaster?! because it is. and it's driving me bonkers. if we weren't so slammed at work today, I would have taken the day off to go first thing this morning. seriously. I'm a mess}.

winter wonderland.

wishing I was feeling a little more {cozy} today. conjuring images of cozy-related things to make this half sunny/half cloudy sky turn dark, stormy, and more *winter-like*.

happy {almost} christmas.

a little late on the bandwagon. again.

hello loves!

last night I went to my best guy friend's house {after a half assed attempt to continue putting furniture together... I looked at the box and quit before even opening it} and we snuggled with his puppy [Jake aka the coolest dog ever, who not only watches movies, he looks away at scary parts, yawns when it's boring, and looks at you and asks 'is it over yet?' without even saying a word.] and watched The Town {which was amazeballs, BTW}. I fell in love last night. but not with my best guy friend. no, I fell in love with this man.

give me a moment.

does anyone mind if I vent today?

{if not, I suggest you press that X on the righthand portion of your screen [or left, if you're so inclined] because today's gonna be a doozy}

1. it took me two. hours. to put together a portion of one piece of furniture. two hours!!! WTF??! I gave my mother the day off {as if she's working for me lol.... not. I'm lucky she wants to help!} so I was on my own for the day and I swear, if I hadn't gotten frustrated, I never would have had the strength to put the shit in it's place.

2. Mr. Painter started with the two extra bedrooms instead of the master. which means I still can't move into my own room. seriously?! seriously. not thinking, Mr. Painter, not thinking.

3. whilst putting felt protectors on the legs of my beautiful fluffy chairs, two of said legs decide to dismount, resulting in a giant gouge taken out of my beautiful wood floor [which I was trying to protect in the first place]. ugh. there are no words for my sadness.

so, what's going to go amiss today?? I shudder to find out.

aahhh the joys of home owning.

p.s.
please send prayers for animals and loved ones, as they all seem to need them today.

let's turn this shin-dig into a par-tay.

hello loves! how's everyone doing today?

I'm running around on what feels like a full tank of jet fuel.... it's just one of those days!! I could run around our trailer yard for the rest of the day and still have a bundle of energy left. I get to leave work early today to wait around for my brand spankin' new sofa to be delivered and while I'm sitting around, I might as well be productive. I'm building furniture, bitch. {perhaps, helping the process on with a bottle [or two] of wine}

guess who has their {real} camera with them today??

oh ya.

I'm on a roll.

grrrrrrr........

I was so excited to walk into a freshly painted house yesterday. I knew it wouldn't be finished but Mr. Painter promised a fresh coat of lacquer in the kitchen, great room, and down my beautifully wainscotted hallway. after work, I rushed to the parentals' house, grabbed my pretty pink tool box {Ikea = put the shit together yourself} and flew to casa de beautiful.dirty.rich. I walk in and find white walls down the hallway. splotches of different colored paints covering the kitchen and the living room.

{you're f<(%ing up my day, Mr. Painter.}

color my world.

hello loves!

how was everyone's weekend? mine was jam packed. between working a full day on Saturday, trying (unsuccessfully, might I add) to nail down a paint color, and holiday parties and Ikea shopping trips, I fell into bed around 8.30 last night absolutely. exhausted. but, guess what??!

I finally picked a color! (like, an hour ago. seriously.)

{camera} photos to come.... I promise :)

the pointe of family.

when I was a child, ballet was my life. I danced in my house, down the hallways at school, and anywhere with a flat surface. I even begged my mom to install a ballet barre in the front room. ballet was my first love, although ballet did not love me back. I had to cease dancing when I was 11. tomorrow evening, I'll be attending a performance of The Nutcracker. this production always brings tears to my eyes regardless, and now my cousin, Emma, is dancing. she was promoted to an angel this year. fitting, since that little girl is like my own personal angel.

good luck, Emma. auntie's proud of you.

you light up my life.

hello loves! how's everyone doing today?

as promised, I have photos of the antique table lamps I found while visiting the antique store by my house. of course, they were taken on my iPhone, so excuse the poor quality. and, please excuse my wonderful setting/staging area. must you be reminded, I'm packing over here!! things are ca-ray-zay!!!

rewiring required.

pretty little base. simple. perfect.

ooh! and I found this beauty at a little decor shop in town. I can't wait to replace those nasty covers with something fabulous (that'll come later, I promise!)

pardon my mess/boxes, it's kind of a disaster at the moment!

have a great day, loves!

Wednesday, December 1, 2010

a rose called by any other name smells just as sweet.

hello loves! how's everyone doing today?

while you're all decorating for Christmas and stringing up lights, I'm dreaming of furniture. decorating for Christmas? please. at least let me move into my house before then! I'll be lucky if I put my tree up before Christmas Eve! today, I'm dreaming of this:

the Trollsta Sideboard from Ikea.

I know what you're all thinking - where the f is she going to put a sideboard?! I'll tell you this much: not in my dining area! nope, I'm putting this beauty in my bedroom and calling it a dresser! I've never had a dresser because I have a built-in bookshelf and a built-in closet organizer in my bedroom at my parents, so when it came time to think about buying one, the regular old square ones weren't quite doing it for me. I do have a semi-built-in closet system at my new house but there aren't any drawers and I want to take full advantage of the fact that I will now be in the 'master' bedroom. I have space for days! I'm going to keep it simple but pretty. I love the detail at the bottom of this sideboard. it's perfect for my Hanky Panky and Cosabella underthings (another one of my obsessions, BTW), which is pretty much all I'll be using it for. I can't wait to buy a pretty little tray so I can add a few candles and a few of my coveted perfume bottles, too. I'm so excited for this new addition to my bedroom (hopefully I'll make it to Ikea this weekend or next!)

what do you think of my choice?

have a great day, loves!

xoxo
